some things that are helping me get through october

i just read through 3 months of magazine subscriptions and realized that i'm long overdue on sharing some lifestyle happenings on this, my lifestyle blog. september brought everyone an extra amount of bullshit that we're still seeming to process on top of what october's been bringing our way. i wanted to take some time to talk about some things that have not been disappointing or stressing me out.

alt pasta

i have been hitting my protein goals while satiating the comfort craving of pasta by eating alternative forms of it in chickpea, lentil or cauliflower form. my local key food (grocery store) carries some different brands and varieties, like tolerant (my go-to) and barilla even has varieties now! these pastas often provide 4x the protein that normal pasta does! i love making a quick and vegan version of hamburger helper by sauteing a chopped up veggie burger and adding it to some pasta and sauce (as in the above photo).

another high protein alt food i’m into: pea milk. yes, pea milk, trust me!

rare beauty’s lip souffle matte cream*

this liquid lip dries matte, builds well and wears so comfortably! the color names are silly and hard to remember (i think the lavender i’m wearing above is called “daring” - remember, pastel is goth), but the colors are great. i’ve got the red one and one of the brighter pinks. they do stain a bit, but i personally prefer a stain over a lipstick that disappears after 2 sips of a drink.

another beauty item i’m into: good molecule’s clarify & cleanse bar, which i can use to wash my face before and after workouts without it leaving my face feeling dry and taut.

watermelon mocktails

speaking of drinks, i’m still on my adult soda game and even though summer is over i still am obsessed with watermelon drinks. today i mashed up some watermelon cubes, added ice, and poured over equal parts seltzer and melon kombucha from big easy bucha. i must be some kind of classy bitch or something.

another beverage item i’m into: my aeropress. my boyfriend makes my favorite cup of coffee, and so in an attempt to replicate it i got one. turns out i can't replicate the whole experience, but it is fast and so easy to clean. i can dump the grinds right in my compost bin in the freezer without making a mess.

i wish you all a cozy october. as i started writing that sentence, pumagreg’s tail knocked over my empty watermelon mocktail glass and he got scared and dug all his nails into my tits as he ran away scared. feels appropriate these days, anyway please do take care of yourselves!
